Romania: Crăciun şi Revelion

Christmas and New Years in Romania were awesome. It’s a bit late for me to give a detailed recap, but here are all of the pictures that I’ve uploaded that are related to Christmas (Crăciun) and New Year’s (Revelion). There are only a handful of Christmas photos, alas, and I think they’re all from our evening out caroling. I have other photos from our time giving gifts, but for some reason I had trouble uploading them.

The pictures from Revelion feature an unusual sight: me wrestling with my Romanian friend Gabi, just because they dared us to. We’re both sedentary, academic types, so it was… amusing. Behold my unbridled fury:

Moment of Respite

This is the first chance I’ve had to write since getting back to America from Romania. In a moment I’ll be uploading as many photos as my Flickr account allows and posting some basic stuff here about the trip.

It’s been an exhausting two weeks since we got back. I took on a freelance programming project while I was in Romania, which I now regret–not because the work was too hard or not interesting, but because it wound up meaning an 60-hour week for each of the past two weeks. Not much fun, to be honest. We’re both tired and somewhat cranky now. To top it off, at the end of this week we’re moving into a new apartment. It’s just a few minutes from our current apartment, so we’ve been ferrying our things to and fro over the last couple of days, getting ready to pack everything out this Friday and abandon the old one-room apartment for good. It’s been a cute little place, but the new place is bigger, has a fabulous view, and will more easily accommodate the planned expansion to the Bangs clan.
